2016 RULES SUMMARY

USA HOCKEY RULES WILL APPLY, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS AND ADDITIONS.

Games will consist of three periods as follows:

1st Period:      12 Minutes – Stop-Time.
2nd Period:     12 Minutes – Stop-Time.
3rd Period:      12 Minutes – Stop-Time.     Running Clock with (5) Goal Differential and (5)

Minutes or less remaining.

WARM-UP(S):

There will be a 2 minute warm-up that will commence as soon as the Zamboni doors close. Teams and officials shall be ready to take the ice.

 GAME TIME(S):

Games may start up to 15 minutes early. Teams and officials shall be ready to start early.

PENALTY FORMAT AS FOLLOWS:

Minor penalties shall be 2 minutes. Referees may assess double-minor penalties (4:00) at their discretion for excessive infractions.
Major penalties shall be 5 minutes plus a game misconduct (this game plus next) in all cases.
Misconduct penalties will be (5) or (10) minutes, at the Referee’s discretion.
Any player who receives a Match Penalty (Gross) shall be expelled from the tournament. If a Goalie receives a Match or Gross penalty, he will be allowed to finish that game, but be expelled afterward. Allowing the goaltender to finish the game will be at the Referee’s discretion.
Any player who receives three minor penalties in one game shall be ejected for the remainder of that game (only).
Altercations:

The instigator or clear aggressor of an altercation may receive a minor, double minor or fighting major.
At the same time, the non-aggressor may receive the same penalties OR that player may receive less severe penalties OR he may receive no penalty at all at the Referee’s discretion.

Any player who receives a fighting penalty shall be expelled from the tournament.
If a puck is played with a “high-stick”, then the USA Hockey rules apply. No minor penalty.


2015 RULES SUMMARY

 USA HOCKEY RULES WILL APPLY, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS AND ADDITIONS.


CLARIFICATION(S):

Body contact: coincidental body contact is allowed. However, deliberate checking shall result in a minor, double minor or major penalty. CLARIFICATION: We are NOT calling 2-line pass violations (same as USA Hockey).
CLARIFICATION: The center red line shall be used for icing purposes, same as USA Hockey.
Slap-shot’s are allowed in all divisions, 18+ and 30+.
If a team is excessively late taking the ice, a forfeit may be declared at the discretion of the referee.
Any single player may only be rostered once.  (i.e. you will not be allowed to play on both the 18+ and 30+ team). Should a player be caught playing on more than one team, then both teams the player is or has played for may be required to forfeit all previous games played.
Any rostered player must play in at least two preliminary games for the same team to be eligible for the semi-final and championship games.
Mercy Rule: If the goal differential is 5 goals or more, then running time shall be used and shall remain in effect until the goal differential is reduced to 2 goals.
(8) Goals differential maximum shown on Scoreboard.
Running Time will result be the result of any game with a (5) goal differential and (5) minutes or less remain on the clock for the 3rd period.
All referee decisions are FINAL.


SHOOT-OUT(S):

Should a game be tied at the end of regulation time, a Shoot-out will decide the winner/loser with the following format and the following rules apply:

Teams shall designate their 3 shooters.  (3 vs. 3) then (1 vs. 1 – Sudden Death)
Home team decides which team shoots first.
Shooters will alternate shooting.
Teams are not allowed to use the same shooter twice until each bench player has had the opportunity to shoot in the shootout (Sudden Death) format.
Should the sudden death shootout be necessary, and the first shooter scores, then the other team gets last chance to make shooting opportunities equal for each team.
 

2016 RULES SUMMARY


USA HOCKEY RULES WILL APPLY, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS AND ADDITIONS.
 

Eligibility Requirements are as follows:

You must have graduated from the school you plan to represent.
You must have played a minimum of (1) full season of Varsity Hockey for the school you plan to play with in this tournament (hence, Alumni Tournament).
You must have graduated from High School no later than summer 2015.  Any players Graduating in the Class of 2016 or after will not be allowed. Absolutely no current high school students can play.
30+ Division, a player is eligible if that player turns (30) during the 2015 calendar year.
 

ROSTER LIMITATION(S):

Roster limits are maxed at (20) player’s per team.         
Teams can have Coach’s however, no more than (3) Coach’s may be on the bench at any given time.

 POINTS AWARDED FOR:

(3) Points are awarded to any team that Wins in Regulation Time.
(2) Points are awarded to any team that Wins in an Overtime Shoot-Out.
(1) Point is awarded to any team that Loses in an Overtime Shoot-Out.
(0) Points are awarded to any team who Loses in Regulation or Forfeits any game.  A forfeit will result in a team being disqualified from the tournament.


SEMI-FINAL & FINAL PLAYOFFS TEAMS ARE ADVANCED AS FOLLOWS:

Top Team from Each Bracket (A, B, and C) automatically advances.
Wild-Card Team (4th Seed) will be decided per the Tie-Breaker Rules posted near the Division Standings.
